Train sim world is overhyped and extremely bad and unrealistic. While it likely won't be coming out until Q3 of 2021 at the earliest,if you like steam and the Trainz type experience, I would say be (cautiously, b/c it hasn't come out and settled in yet) optimistic and on the lookout for SimRail. It is also featuring content from Poland, including a Steam locomotive, so that makes it stand out in a way.
Set to come out on Q3 2021 from a group of Polish developers, it promising an extremely OP game mechanics package, from Multiplayer to Real Time, Weather data, and even the ability to play in Multiple modes.įrom what I've seen from it, and the types of content it's delivering, it certainly seems quite closely aligned to Trainz and the experience it provided, but with a better suite of features. That said, if you like Trainz and the experience that it provided, then you might want to keep your eye on SimRail. It is more realistic (as I have argued for in a previous response), but it does have less routes and most notably, no steam yet. Train Sim World has far better graphics, and more exploratory options more represents a merge between isolated FPS and Train Sims with a timetabled set of services. That said it does feature much larger maps and steam, so between the two, this is probably the better direction for you. TS is probably as old as the newer Trainz versions itself, as a game that has been around since 2012 and hasn't changed very much, aside from the addition of new DLC routes. Even though are made by Dovetail, they feature different backgrounds and experiences.
